MESSAGE NOTES: Sticks & Stones 2.0 – Chosen

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be

self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus

Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you

had when you lived in ignorance.” (1 Pet 1:13-14)

“For though we

live in the world, (*) we do not wage war the way the world does.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of this world. On

the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. (*)

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up

against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought

to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Cor 10:3-5)

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is

written, “Be holy because I am holy.” (1 Pet 1:16)

“Be holy because I am holy.” (1 Pet 1:16)

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were

still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom 5:8)

Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially,

live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.” (1 Pet 1:17)

“Abba, Father!” (Rom 8:15)

“For you know that it was not with

perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty

way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious

blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” (1 Pet 1:18-19)

He was chosen before the creation of the

world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him, you

believe in God [i.e., know Him] who raised him from the dead and glorified him,

and so your hope and faith are in God.” (1 Pet 1:20-21)

“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth

so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from

the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of

imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Pet 1:22-23)

If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he

is a liar. [and it’s not just about hate, because = ] For anyone who does not love

his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he

has given us this command: whoever loves God must also love his brother.” (1

John 4:20-21)

For you have been born again, not of

perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of

God. [i.e., Jesus]. “All men are like grass, and all their glory like the flowers of

the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands

forever.” (1 Pet 1:23-24)
